The jaguar XK, like many vehicles, can experience

The jaguar XK, like many vehicles, can experience an issue with water leaking into the passenger footwell.

The A/C system in the XK, has a drain tube that channels moisture (condensation) from the evaporator out of the vehicle. If this drain tube gets clogged with debris, mould, or dirt, the condensation can’t drain properly. As a result, the water backs up and leaks into the passenger footwell. Jaguar came up with a modified drain tube to prevent this issue happening again and to avoid a soggy floor mat, but it does require dashboard removal to gain access to this part to replace accurately. Yes, you are also seeing that correctly, the entire dash does in fact need to be removed for that one single tiny piece.

When these vehicles were new this was almost a weekly task, due to this we now don’t tend to see them as regularly anymore, but occasionally one will trickle in. Once we have replaced the drain tube, we then replace the pollen filter, carry out an AC service and decontamination, then our detailing team wet vax and clean the carpet and interior eliminating any mould or grime spores this issue may have caused leaving behind a spotless, decontaminated interior.
