A Proper Yorkshire Brew

There can’t be many finer motorsport settings than Harwood Hillclimb near Leeds on a sunny day late in June. With some spectacular views across the Wharfe Valley and picnic packed, Swallows Racing were once again pleased to be supporting the JEC TrackSport with their hillclimb event. Over eighty Jaguar Enthusiasts took to the hill, in cars ranging from 1948 to the present day and from the XK120 to the I-Pace. With no less than three C-Type recreations and XK’s strongly represented with model variants from early XK120’s through to late XK150’s. Classics proved to be nearly as large in number on the day as contemporary cars with Mk2’s, E-Types, a single 420, with XJS’s and XJ40’s making up the modern classic contingent. Swallows Racing provided the thrills with Jack Robinson giving passenger rides at speed through the twisting and testing run in his XJ40 race car. Jack’s Class A car which is performing well in this year’s CTCRC Berkshire Jag Components Challenge gave guests a taste of what it’s like to be on track in a race-prepped Jaguar. Harwood Hillclimb the longest in the UK offers a completely different test to wide tracks of circuit racing, nevertheless the XJ40 proved up to the task. Commenting on the day event organiser Colin Porter said, “I’m delighted to see such a great variety of Jaguars driving up the hill, this what TrackSport is all about, ordinary people enjoying their Jaguar’s. We have proved today that it doesn’t matter what you own, you can bring it to the track and enjoy it. I’m indebted to the guys at Swallows Racing for coming all this way to offer passenger rides, technical support, and trackside recovery.” JEC TrackSport continue their 2022 event schedule when they return to Castle Combe Circuit on 4th October. Swallows Racing will once again be supporting this event with several track focused cars giving passenger hot laps, technical support, and performance trade stand with products from their own SR range, AVO dampers, Tarox brakes and SR/Pipercross filters.
