Judge A Book By Its Cover

Judge a book by its cover, that well known saying became a reality for Swallows when we were kindly asked by our partners at the Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club to help organise a photo shoot for world-renowned automotive and motorsport photographer James Mann. So we set our own consultant and keen photographer Colin Porter the task of putting together a collection of cars worthy of the front cover of a new book on Jaguars to be published in the coming months for the US market. Using our ‘little black book’ of contacts…

Commission Car Sales

A growing part of Swallows business in recent years has been our commission car sales where we represent client’s cars and sell them on their behalf taking away the hassle and obtaining the best price. Increasingly we have been asked to sell some beautiful premium cars including several Aston Martin DB7’s, a DB9 plus top of the range Jaguar’s F-Type’s, and XKR’s. Most recently we have been asked to represent two outstanding E-Type Jaguar’s. Both truly stunning cars the first is a 1965 Semi-Lightweight by Zealia Engineering. As Jaguar only ever…

Spring Cleaning..

With Spring fully here and the weather on the turn there couldn’t be a better time to get your Jaguar in fighting fit condition on the underside with a clean, paint and Wax oyl to protect for the next few years ahead. With common corrosion areas on most Jaguars from subframe mounting points to brake/ fuel lines and even the subframes themselves on later cars, a spring clean is a great way to keep the corrosion away and prevent the need to replace various components prematurely. With heavy cold and moisture…

COVID-19 New Rules on MOT and keeping your car safe to drive.

You may have read or heard that there are some new temporary measures in place with regards to MOT’s (see extracts from the government website below). As from 30th March 2020 an automatic 6-month extension to MOT’s is coming into force. At Swallows this gives us some cause for concern. If your car passed its MOT 12 months ago but with advisories, it may now go up to 18 months without being addressed or checked. This is far from an ideal situation! Even if you are not travelling much because of…

Disco Twist

Q: Why would we buy 2007 Disco 3 that had been SORN for two years with heap load of problems? A: Because our Jack could see the potential and well the price was right ….. With just under 100,000 miles on the clock this unloved Disco had seen better days had clearly been neglected by its previous owner, but Jack could see well beyond all that and the potential to bring back to life what was once a premium SUV. With the body off to address engine issues, it gave us…

Hitting the headlines

The Swallows publicity machine has been working overtime lately having been featured recently in the JEC magazine when editor Nigel Thorley visited us in Somerset to write an in-depth focus on our history, work and progress with Swallows Racing. This was followed closely by a piece from Exclusively Jaguar’s Letitca Mace interviewing Swallows head Gary Robinson at Jaguar Spares which featured in the JDC magazine. Hard on the heels of both we had a wonderful XKR 4.2 sales car on the front cover of Jaguar World and featured inside in a…

Swallows Racing’s Tom Robinson drives the Series Elite Project 8

Swallows Racing’s Tom Robinson drives the Series Elite Project 8 I was delighted to be invited by Series Elite CEO Graeme Glew to drive the Jaguar SVO built Project 8 XE around Silverstone International circuit at the recent MotorsportDays.LIVE event. As I’m sure you can understand I jumped at the chance to get behind the wheel of such a well-regarded wild Jaguar!   The first thing you notice about the car is its resemblance of a steroidal version of Jaguar’s entry-level saloon combined with the Series Elite stylish new race livery the vehicle…

Swallows Le Mans Trip

Sadly, it’s been far too long since Jaguar last raced at the Le Mans 24 hour and with little prospect of that changing, we decided we needed an excuse to go. With the regulation changes coming in 2020 we felt 2019 was the year to go and wave the Swallows flag, literally. Jaguar may not have raced at the Circuit La Sarthe for many years however there is still a strong bond, love and affinity for Jaguar owners and enthusiasts with the old place. Our elected representatives for the 87th running were…
