XK100 Braces

A sneaky peak into our development workshop. Soon to be available from Swallows Racing for the Jaguar XK8 / XKR these new improved strut bars with added gussets for additional stability, they will come in a powder coated finish for longevity. Why adding braces is a good idea? When you corner, the whole car’s chassis is twisting slightly. In the front (and perhaps at the back, but not so often) the suspension pillars will be moving relative to each other because there’s no direct physical link between them. They are connected…

Accolade For Swallows

Tom was recently invited by Castrol UK to attend a workshop at the Castrol Oil technology centre at Pangbourne, Berkshire where the world leading experts in motor oils train not only their own staff but occasionally bring in selected individuals and company representatives who sell their products. Swallows were appointed as Castrol South West agents in 2018 and have been recognised by Castrol for the exceptional work been doing along with increasing volume of sales. The workshop consisted of two days with day one being held at the Renault Formula One…

Back On Track

Six long weeks after the disappointment of Oulton Park we were back on track this weekend at Anglesey, a new circuit for us, and a 260-mile trek north on Thursday afternoon ready for a full day testing on Friday. With a rebuilt gearbox and differential plus a new clutch we were optimistic that Tom’s XJR was in good health and ready for the challenge of the undulating clifftop circuit, probably one of the most scenic tracks in the world. ANGLESEY Friday morning turned out much as forecast and to be pretty…

Time Out

After a hectic few weeks at Swallows and very little stoppage, we decided that a little time out was in order. With it being a couple weeks since our last race at Oulton and without another round until mid-July we were getting serious racing withdraw symptoms. A trip to Silverstone to see the “big boys” racing in the British GT on Sunday 9th June then seemed to be the best cure. We particularly wanted to be there to support the Invictus Games Racing Team with the Jaguar F-Type SVR GT4 which has…

Testing Times

WHY WE GO RACING Unfortunately, this isn’t exactly the race report I had planned to write, and really, it’s not even a race report. The weekend at Oulton Park didn’t pan out as planned with just testing, qualifying and only half a race completed. So instead I thought I’d write about why we go racing. There are several reasons for going racing, testing ourselves as race car builders, technicians, technical ability, drivers, the challenge of making a machine do something that it wasn’t designed to do, friendship and comradery with people…

Positively Misfiring

Silverstone, the home of British motorsport, going to race there always brings added excitement and anticipation, after all this where our heroes have raced and fought to become champions, it is steeped in history. The International circuit was the venue for rounds 3 & 4 of the Jaguar Enthusiasts club GT and saloon car championship. After a strong showing in the first two rounds at Snetterton four weeks ago Tom Robinson in our number four car was in positive mood going to a circuit which he knew would suit the car.…

Tom Tom Showing The Way To Snetterton

With no time to draw breath after our highly successful Open Day on Saturday 30th March, we set the Sat Nav’s for Snetterton in Norfolk and the JEC Saloon & GT Championship season curtain raiser. After a long drive from Somerset and arriving at gone midnight we grabbed some much-needed shut eye. The break of dawn revealed a bright crisp sunny day and near perfect conditions for testing. Tom Robinson continues this season to pilot the number four XJR and we are delighted to announce that he has been joined on the…

Open Day 2019

We have been involved with the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club and other organisations now for many years, however when the JEC started up a new region on our doorstep we felt that it was right to lend our support in whatever way we could and friends and customers encouraged us to come to the first Somerset Region meeting at the Ashcott Inn in October 2018. So just before Christmas we were ask if we would be interested in hosting an open day in the spring of 2019. This then was how our…
